What is
Emotionally Intelligent Music Instruction?
(EIMI)
EIMI is knowing the unique way that music works in the brain.
There is a world of new discoveries in Applied Music Psychology that wasn’t available even 25 years ago. What we’ve found out in those years should revolutionize what we do in our classrooms, in our performances, and in our communities.
EIMI is using that knowledge to improve every part of our teaching.
You don’t have to get advanced degrees in psychology to be able to meaningfully improve your teaching (and it’s outcomes) today. You can reach more students, improve your retention, and impact your community in ways you could never imagine.
EIMI can building strong, mentally healthy people.
Because music lives in the center of our brains, where our deepest consciousness lives, music teachers have the opportunity to help their students (of all ages!) learn the skills necessary to regulate themselves,.
EIMI can help music really change the world.
We all know the music has the ability to make real change happen in people, in groups, in communities, and in the world. When music teachers are equipped with new Applied Music Psychology tools, real change can spread in every lesson, every class, and every moment of music.
Our Mission
Music isn’t optional: it’s essential.
At the I Am Academy and the I Am Music Group, we have done the work to help music teachers use music to create successful humans in every field.
We do this by:
Training teachers individually and in groups
Supporting universities as they train the next generation of music teachers
Helping parents, school leaders, and district administrators design mental-health focused music programs they can afford
Creating opportunities for communities from around the world to communicate with each other through music
