The I Am Academy

Really useful SEL training

specifically for music teachers.

Apply to get FREE in-person professional development that improves students’ mental health, alleviates teacher burnout,

and makes it easy to have more fun in the classroom

Grant Specifics

In November 2024, the I Am Music Group will have funds dispersed from the Marie Lamfrom Foundation.

This money will be used to give a limited number of districts in Oregon and Washington free or reduced-cost in-person professional development, along with intensive post-training workshopping.

These funds will cover between 50-100% of the training cost, depending on need.

Preference will be given to districts that can demonstrate that the PD will have the greatest impact on:

  • A large number of students,

  • A large high-need population of students,

  • A rural population of students.

PD will be specifically designed to address the biggest issues faced by music (or general) teachers in the district.

Examples include:

  • Using music to create mental health improvements in students,

  • Teaching music practice which wildly improves academic success,

  • SEL for Music Teachers: Why a music classroom is the seedbed for all SEL, and practical how-tos,

  • The Most Effective Behavioral Remediation: How to help the neediest students using music psychology basics,

  • Making a Good Program, Excellent: Music Psychology that supercharges music students (in and out of the music classroom).

    Application Deadline: July 6th

    Notification of Consideration: July 25th

    Notification of Approval: Mid-November
